Yesterday's Garden

Two years ago this area was more of a landfill than anything else.  But with a lot of hard work from volunteers, staff on work training programs, and the kind donations of materials and services from local businesses, we have a garden growing in the middle of our city.		Garden Plan

Today's Garden

 Today's garden is a thriving accessible garden for our partners and the community. The Community Resource Centre staff and volunteers plant and maintain the garden. We use the produce in the Harmony Cafe every day during the growing season and process some for winter use. Part of the garden is used by Powell River Family Place for parent/child gardening activities. And we are building a Composting demonstration centre.

Tomorrow's Garden 

Each year our garden gets stronger.  Last year we added a small irrigation network to make it easier to water the plants. This year through to next spring we are adding new beds,  raising our existing beds to accommodate new compost and more soil.  We will also be building a greenhouse to extend our seasonal crops.  And  we will be growing our food year round. We have a bear-proof composter, a regular black plastic "domestic" composter and  several open systems. We also have a worm composting bin.
