Programs at a glanceOur purpose is to provide a safe place for community members to socialize, integrate, learn, and have access to basic services in the community. We achieve this though integrating our activities with those of our service partners.Harmony Cafe The cafe provides a clean, warm, dry, safe and free place for people to meet and spend a few minutes of their day.We provide supportive counselling and referral services as required. In addition the Cafe, through coffee, snacks, and light lunches provides one of the community food support systems Basic Services CRC provides clothes washers and dryers on a first come first serve basis. Patrons using these services either provide volunteer services in the centre or provide a donation if they are able. Local telephone and internet access is provided at no charge. KitchenCRC has a certified kitchen and uses it to for cooking classes in, for example, canning, preserving and storing food safely. The courses are open to all community members and generally free or by donation. Garden The demonstration garden shows the ease of gardening in small spaces, value of composting and how to incorporate fresh produce in a more healthy diet. The garden is a year round source of food and is managed by volunteers both from within the centre and general public. Resources for Non Profits The CRC has developed a set of resources to assist local non-profit organizations in fundraising and for greater communication between groups. Personal Resources As a community centre, staff and volunteers readily assist newcomers to the centre and the community in learning what services are available and how to access them. |
