Like any household, our kitchen is the hub of the CRC. This
is
where the planning for the day begins as staff and volunteers prepare
coffee and snacks for the day. Our garden,
and local
donations help us prepare good
food. We measure our kitchen's success very simply, two
years ago the sugary snacks were the first things to be
consumed,
today salads rank number one.

Sometimes,
staff and volunteers get a little carried away
like when the BC Young Naturalists came to count worms in our
vermicompost
system. The worm count did not work as planned, but the kids
had a wonderful time. |

Our kitchen is used for many learning
opportunities. Past workshops have covered a variety of topics covering
budget cooking, preserving, using garden produce and salsa-making. From
time to time we offer the "Food Skills for Families" six-week
program. |
