Today's GardenToday's garden (2009/20010) is a vibrant showcase of what can grow from a once open disused brownspace. Our garden produced tomatoes, potatoes, jerusalem artichokes, salad greens, beans, strawberries, rasberries and much much more. The food provided nourishment for our patrons through our kitchen and cafe program. Though we are not strictly an organic garden, we do use sustainable practices wherever and whenever we can. Through our composting program, we are reducing our carbon footprint while improving the soil for next year's crop. Our Garden is used for many learning opportunities. For the last two years we have delivered a variety of workshops such as "Vegetable Garden Planning", "Seed Starting", "Organic Safe Pest and Disease Control", "Backyard Rabbits and Chickens for Beginners", "Four Season Edibles" and "Small Space Gardening". The garden also is a place for our volunteers and patrons to participate, socialize and relieve stress. |
