About us

The Community Resource Center (CRC), which is part of the Powell River Employment Program Society (PREP), has been operating in Powell River since September 2007. We provide a range of services including a café/drop-in, public access computers, volunteer tax-help, information and referral services as well as laundry facilities. There is an on-site Poverty Law Advocate, a CAP II counsellor and free legal advice clinics. 

The CRC is open four days a week. Drop in hours are from 10:00 to 4:00 on Mondays, and 12:00 to 4:00 Tuesdays to Thursday.  From 8:30 in the morning daily, the Centre is open for people who have appointments. 

Services are available to all members of the community, however our main purpose is to assist people who are experiencing low income, social or cultural isolation and those who are multi-barriered, homeless or at-risk of  becoming homeless.  


Our Kitchen and Garden

Many of our workshops are held in our certified kitchen and demonstration garden. They aim to help people build skills in the kitchen and in the backyard so that they can increase their health and wellness. Cooking and gardening also provide great opportunities to socialize.



Our Volunteers

We could not run effectively without our volunteers.  They come from every walk of life and help with reception, in the kitchen and café, in the garden and with many other activities depending on their individual skills.
